“And the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound them. The first sounded, and there came hail and fire, mixed with blood, and they were thrown to the earth; and a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up. The second angel sounded, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea; and a third of the sea became blood, and a third of the creatures which were in the sea and had life, died; and a third of the ships were destroyed. The third angel sounded, and a great star fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of waters. The name of the star is called Wormwood; and a third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter. The fourth angel sounded, and a third of the sun and a third of the moon and a third of the stars were struck, so that a third of them would be darkened and the day would not shine for a third of it, and the night in the same way. Then I looked, and I heard an eagle flying in midheaven, saying with a loud voice, ‘Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the three angels who are about to sound!’ " (Rev. 8:6-13).

As you live and prepare for the eventual return of Jesus, there is a period of time that will happen on the earth, which is known as the Great Tribulation. This will be a time of horror and judgment upon the earth that will be unmatched by any other time in human history. Our "Introduction" will cover the overview of our series.

Seven Trumpets #1 Hail.png

At the heart of the seven trumpets in Revelation are the judgments that come with the blowing of each one. Each trumpet will be blown by a different angel, but the angels are not named. Let’s consider each judgment. The first is God releasing hail from Heaven that is inflamed by the hand of God - destroying a third of the earth's grass, trees, and other vegetation.

Seven Trumpets #2 Mountain.png

This passage, according to the interpretation of most theologians, confronts the issue of this new Roman Empire. It is the second of the four great events which contributed to the downfall of the revived Roman Empire.  To find the truth behind this verse, we must take a healthy look at the dynamic symbols and illustrations the Lord uses to communicate to His people, such as “a great mountain.”

Seven Trumpets #3 Star.png

A star is a biblical symbol and emblem of a prince, a leader of a nation, or one made significant by the Creator.  This star is a chosen leader (probably an angel) sent to accomplish a mission. In the application of this passage, we can see that some prince or warrior of brilliant talents will appear suddenly and sweep rapidly over the world. Guess who this is?

Seven Trumpets #4 Darkened.png

In Daniel 4:26 we are taught that the Lord controls all things--the sun, the moon, and the stars.  We are not sure how God is going to do this, but we know that God will turn down 1/3 of the light provided by the sun, moon, and stars. Signs of God’s work will be in the offset of the sun, moon, and stars.

Seven Trumpets #5 Satan.png

This trumpet releases Satan with the power to use demonic influence, described as locusts, to torment those who have rejected God. Surprisingly, they are allowed to torment but those whom they torment won’t die. What an incredible time of torture and pain. Ironically the ones who are protected are those who had the seal of God on their foreheads.

Seven Trumpets #6 Human Death.png

This trumpet brings an astonishing amount of death and an absolutely incredible response to it. With the sixth trumpet, four angels are released along with an army of 200 million which is probably a demonic army. They proceed to kill one third of all the people on the earth. Again, a time unlike any we have ever witnessed in human history.

#7 1,000-YEAR REIGN

With this trumpet the announcement of Christ’s reign is made as we move to the completion of this period. While the tribulation doesn’t end right when this trumpet is blown, it is getting close. There are some major events left to play out but we know this trumpet is blown closer to the end of the Great Tribulation.
